The SSSE3 is an error without a fix, but it's useful to know why and what kind of CPUs cause it.
The error cause is a requirement that you lack to run the game suggests that the only thing you can do is upgrade your computer.
There are supposed fixes indicated by the community, but I cannot validate that it works, I would suggest getting a new CPU if possible.
What is the error SSSE3 CPU Unsupported?
Users reported that this error occurs on Steam, which makes Apex Legends show the following message:
Unsupported CPU CPU does not have SSE3 (Supplemental SSE 3 instructions)!
This message is shown after opening Apex Legends, and it is followed up by the game closing or instantly crashing.
SSSE3 is short for Supplemental Streaming SIMD Extensions 3, it's an instruction needed on Apex Legends (as the errors complain that you don't have it).
Being introduced in 2006 some CPUs will simply do not have it if they're old, so you cannot play the game, and there is no known fix if that is the case, besides upgrading your computer.
Supposed fix for the SSSE3 Cpu Unsupported error
If there is a problem with Apex Legends, or some underlying problem causing the error to happen, and not the missing SSSE3 it may be possible to fix it.
Before trying to fix this error, be sure that your computer meets the minimum requirements for Apex Legends.
EA states that these are the minimum requirements to play Apex Legends on a computer:
- 64 bits Windows 7
- CPU: Intel Core i3-6300 3.8GHz for Intel, and AMD FX-4350 4.2 GHz Quad-Core for AMD
- RAM: 6GB
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 or Radeon HD 7730
- Video memory: 1 GB
You can use software like CPU-Z to check what is your processor or do it through Windows (Processor on the Device specifications).
If your CPU is too old, then there's nothing to be done, you can still try the following if you feel lucky.
A well-known "solution" for the SIMD Instruction error is to change Steam launch settings for Apex Legends, enabling a special flag:
- Open Steam and go to your Steam library
- Locate Apex Legends on your library and right-click it
- Select Properties
- On the General tab, there is a Launch Options text input, type -useallavailablecores there
This is what some people claim to be the fix for this error.
I do not see it working unless the error has multiple meanings (ie the message of the error is wrong), cause if your CPU doesn't have SSSE3 there is no way to enable it.
Another thing to know is that users claim that some AMD CPUs with SSSE3 aren't able to run the game. AMD Phenoms, in general, will encounter this problem, so it's a line to stay away from.
There are other variants of this error but about other CPU instructions.
For example, there is an error about the POPCNT (from SSE4), which is another SIMD Instruction that old CPUs don't have.
If you are getting these errors, upgrading your CPU is the best way to go.
