Is Jax good in Teamfight Tactics?

Jax is an excellent Skirmisher, being able to stack a ton of attack speed and dealing a high amount of attack damage, providing Jax a powerful kit in Teamfight Tactics.

Being Ironclad and Skirmisher, Jax can guarantee health and armor, making him almost unstoppable, however, those abilities won't give him magic resistance, and as a melee, he is vulnerable to crowd control abilities that can make him ineffective.

Although sometimes forgotten in the meta, Jax can be an outstanding pair to Nautilus, as Nautilus is a very good Teamfight Tactics champion all around and he is also an Ironclad.

Ability

Empowered Strike: Jax slams his target for % of his Attack Damage and gains stacking Attack Speed for the remainder of combat. Jax leaps to the nearest enemy if no target is in his Attack Range.

  • Percent of Attack Damage: 200% / 220% / 300%
  • Attack Speed Bonus: 30% / 35% / 100%

Champions good with Jax

As mentioned, Jax is a good pair to Nautilus, however, more champions share a good synergy with him, for example, Rell, Viego, and Pantheon.

Rell can provide crowd control and a health shield to allies, at the same time that she is an Ironclad.

Viego is a Skirmisher, and he can provide a good amount of magic damage, something that Jax cannot, it is a synergy highly depending on what you have going on.

Pantheon is a great champion who also happens to be a Skirmisher, automatically becoming a great pair with Jax, his ability reduces 65% of all incoming damage for 4 seconds, dealing AOE damage and reduces incoming healing of enemy champions.

Synergy is always highly dependent on the state of your game, and sometimes you won't have the means needed for a champion to truly be effective in your game.

Teamfight Tactics items to build on Jax

Not every item will work on Jax, something he benefits the most is Bloodthirster, being almost a must-have if you want him as the main champion on your team.

The Bloodthirster heals the wearer for 33% of damage dealt and gives a 30% max health shield upon falling below 40% health, Jax massively benefits from this item, as it gives him the time needed to stack attack speed due to the health sustain and the shield.

Runaan's Hurricane is another great item for Jax, it makes basic attacks deal a bold with 75% Attack Damage, which also applies the on-hit effects. Runaan's is excellent due to Jax's high stacked attack speed, making him able to deal damage to more than a single champion per time.

Those two items are by far the best you can give Jax and already make him a machine, his third item is often a Caustic Quicksilver, it provides more than needed magic resistance and immunity to crowd control effects, the penalty of -20% max health is more than compensated by the bloodthirster.

Caustic Quicksilver can and should be changed in case other teams have no crowd control or high amounts of magic damage, Iceborn Gauntlet is a good replacement for high AD enemy teams, it gives 25 armor, 20% dodge chance and it will give Jax lots of stun, Warmog can also be an option for a more tank approach, he uses these items very well.

Jax can quickly become a carrying champion in a TFT team, he holds items very well even from early game, and he can become almost invincible with the right items, Ironclads have a diverse amount of good champions allowing for a lot of opportunities.
